THE AMBIGUITY AROUND THE RELEASE OF ADİL ÖKSÜZ

The trial of the judge who decided continuation of the probation of Adil Öksüz who is accused of being the master mind of July 15 controlled coup with collaboration with Turkish intelligence continues. However the new details regarding the release of Adil Öksüz are revealed during the trial. It is learnt that Judge Köksal Çelik who put Adil Öksüz on probation despite the strong suspicions and evidence regarding his involvement with July 15 and who has a detention warrant on his name with red notice was only temporarily suspended from his job by the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors. However, the Judge Çetin Sönmez who decided continuation of the probation of Öksüz is both dismissed from his job and arrested. Sönmez said he is known in public now as “the judge who released Adil Öksüz” and he is judged because of this. Judge Sönmez said he does not know Öksüz in person and he has no relation with him. As a response to Sönmez’s defence the Judge of the trial Ahmet Nazmi Alp said in his indictment there is not any accusations regarding the release of Adil Öksüz. This statement supports the suspicion that Adil Öksüz who is accused of cooperating with Turkish Intelligence to plot the coup has been given immunity.  The Judge Köksal Çelik who released Adil Öksüz is only temporarily suspended from his job and there is not any case against him.
