ALGERIAN WELL-KNOWN AUTHOR WROTE A CRITICAL LETTER TO ERDOĞAN

Before Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to Algeria, well-known Algerian author Kamel Daoud wrote an open letter to Erdoğan. Daoud’s critical letter is published in The Huffington Post. Daoud wrote: “In the name of those whom you have killed, imprisoned, tortured, Erdogan, you are not welcome!

No Erdogan you are not welcome in Algeria.

We are a country that has already paid its tribute of blood and tears to those who wanted to impose their caliphate, those who put their ideas before our bodies, who have taken our children hostage, killed spirits, elites and opportunities for the future. (…)

The Islamism that makes your bread was our misfortune, and we do not forget it, and you remind us today. (…)

History will remember your wiles to keep power, your clandestine coups, your hunts to man and the differences, your tortures and your deaths on the conscience in all the regions of Turkey.”

Kamel Daoud’s novels were translated into 20 languages, and he is awarded the Prix Goncourt literature prize.
