AUSTRIA MAY DEPORT 18,500 TURKISH ORIGIN CITIZENS

18,500 Turkish origin people residing in Austria are facing deportation. The disturbing development happened following the constitutional referendum in Turkey. Far right party FPÖ submitted the list of 95,000 Austrian citizens who voted last year for the constitutional referendum in Turkey. The legislation in Austria does not allow dual citizenship. The list is submitted to the Austrian Immigration Office. The investigation showed that only 18,500 of those voters are citizens, while the others have residence permits. The FPÖ asks all 18,500 to prove that they are not also Turkish citizens. Those who fail to prove that they are not double-passport holders are at the risk of being deported and losing all their citizenship rights.
